Booking choice: The Colosseum night tour, from $148 per person, cheapest option. Check dates Tour details
"Una Notte al Colosseo" is the Park's own evening programme: a guided hour inside the empty amphitheatre, with the first level, the arena floor and the underground. It opened on 14 July 2026 and, after an extension, runs until 26 November.
That leaves a handful of evenings, with tickets released only a week ahead. Below: the dates, the prices, the booking routine, and how it stacks up against the Viator night tour and a late-afternoon arena tour.
The quick answer
The official night visit runs every Tuesday and Thursday until 26 November 2026, from 8 pm (last entry 9.50 pm), for about 60 minutes with a guide. It costs EUR 50 (EUR 28 reduced) and includes the arena floor and the underground. After tonight, 10 evenings are left. Tickets go on sale on ticketing.colosseo.it seven days before each date and sell out fast.
What is "Una Notte al Colosseo" in 2026?
The Park's guided night visit: about 60 minutes on the first level, the arena floor and the underground, every Tuesday and Thursday from 14 July to 26 November 2026.
The Park's event page and Informagiovani Roma give the same frame: visits from 8 pm to 11 pm, last entry at 9.50 pm, groups of 25 at most. You enter at the Valadier gate and start at the north arch, the emperor's entrance. From there the route takes in the stucco decoration, the arena level and the underground, where the permanent exhibition "Spettacoli nell'Arena del Colosseo. I protagonisti" tells the story of the gladiators and animals.
Some listings online still show the original summer end date. The season was extended: the Park's own page and the city's youth portal both give 26 November 2026.
The price splits into two parts: the EUR 24 Full Experience ticket plus a EUR 26 guided visit, so EUR 50 in all. EU citizens aged 18 to 24 pay EUR 28, and holders of a free ticket (under-18s, for example) pay the EUR 26 guide fee. The ticket also gets you into the Roman Forum and the Palatine the next day.

How many Colosseum night visits are left in 2026?
After tonight (Thursday 22 October), ten: 27 and 29 October, then 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26 November.
The calendar is simple once you know it is only Tuesdays and Thursdays. Since sales open seven days ahead, today you can book up to 29 October. The 3 November slots go on sale on 27 October, and so on down the list.
The late-autumn evenings have one thing going for them: darkness. In July the 8 pm groups start in daylight. In November the sun sets before 5 pm, so every slot is a true night visit with the lights on. Bring a layer; the arena holds the cold once the sun is gone.

How do you book the Colosseum night visit?
On ticketing.colosseo.it, seven days before the date, in the visitor's exact passport name. It is the only official sales channel.
The night visit is sold only through the Park's ticketing site. Log in a few minutes before the sale opens for your date, pick the slot, and enter each name exactly as on the ID. Tickets are personal and non-refundable, and the 2026 name-change rules apply: one correction, by email, up to seven days before. On a ticket that goes on sale seven days ahead, that leaves you almost no margin. Get the names right the first time. Our post on the 2026 ticket rules has the details.
With 25 people per slot and only a few slots a night, demand beats supply most weeks. If your date is gone, try the next Tuesday or Thursday as it opens, or look at a tour that already holds tickets.
The Park's night opening with the underground, on the Night Tour (With UG) option only.
Check dates for the Colosseum night tourHow does the Viator night tour compare with the official night visit?
Only its "Colosseum Night Tour (With UG)" option is the Park's night opening. The "Evening Tour (No UG)" option is a daytime-to-evening visit of the upper level with no arena and no underground.
The Colosseum by Night tour sells two options. The Night Tour (With UG) starts between 8 and 10 pm, with the exact time confirmed a week before, and takes in the underground; the overview also names the arena floor and the first level. The Evening Tour (No UG) runs about 2 hours and covers "Colosseum inside with upper level" plus a look at the Forum from outside. Its ticket is the EUR 18 kind, which does not include the arena.
The from-price of $148 is the cheapest option, so check the price shown for the With UG option before you pay. The listing still quotes a night admission of EUR 25, which is out of date: the Park's 2026 price is EUR 50, guide included. Cancellation is free up to 10 days before, longer than most tours here.
Read the 2026 reviews first. Several guests booked expecting night, arena and underground and got a late-afternoon slot without them. One guest wrote in August: "Its not at night. Its not private. You do not go the arena floor or underground." Others loved the real night slot. "Not only is it amazing to see lit up at night, but they allow a very limited number of groups in at night", one wrote the same month. The difference is the option. Our night visit guide covers the traps in more depth.

Is a late-afternoon arena tour a good alternative?
Yes, if you want the arena in low light and can live without the underground. From 25 October the monument closes at 4.30 pm, so "late" now means early afternoon light, not dusk.
The Crown Tours late-afternoon arena tour puts the EUR 24 arena ticket in the base price and stays inside the Colosseum for the whole visit: no Forum, no underground. It costs from $91, cancels free up to 3 days before, and runs private options in English, German, Spanish and French.
Check the clock before you choose. The official hours switch on Sunday 25 October 2026: closing at 4.30 pm, last entry at 3.30 pm. The light is warm and low by then, the crowds thinner than at noon, but you will be out before the floodlights come on. One guest in June 2026 had a slot moved earlier and lost the arena "for logistic reasons", so confirm the option the day before.
Our take: if you can get one of the ten official evenings left, take it. It is the only way to see the arena and the underground empty and lit. If you can't, a late-afternoon arena tour beats a so-called evening tour without the arena.

Explore the late-afternoon arena tour Tour detailsWill the Colosseum night visits return in 2027?
Nothing has been announced. The Park sets and announces each season itself, usually a few weeks before it starts.
The night visits have run in several recent summers, each time with its own dates, days and price. Watch the Park's events page from late spring; we will add the 2027 dates here once they are published.
