Crown Tours · Colosseo metro
A licensed guide walks you through the Colosseum and out onto the arena platform, then on to the Roman Forum and the Palatine. Pick it because the arena ticket sits in the base price of every option, so the price you see is an arena price.

Crown Tours runs this from its own check-in office on Via della Polveriera, a short climb above the Colosseo metro station. You show your voucher to staff in purple T-shirts, get sorted into a group and a headset, and walk down to the Colosseum with a licensed guide. The listing names four options: Small-Group Tour in English, Colosseum Arena in English, Colosseum Arena in Spanish and Colosseum Underground in English. Every one of them includes the arena ticket, which the listing values at EUR 24 plus the EUR 2 booking fee.
The guide comes inside with you. That sounds obvious, but it isn't on every tour here: the Show Me Italy tour hands you an audio guide for the Colosseum. On Crown's tour you hear the story of the games on the platform itself, look down into the hypogeum and up at the tiers, then continue to the Forum and the Palatine. The order can flip depending on your Colosseum slot, and several guests liked starting on the hill and ending in the amphitheatre, because you can stay inside on your own after the guide leaves.
Two caveats from the reviews. One guest timed the Colosseum part at about 20 to 30 minutes and said her group skipped the Palatine. And the check-in process has its critics: you wait at the office, with no toilets, before walking down. If the official Full Experience Arena ticket (EUR 24, on sale seven days ahead) is still available for your date and you don't want a guide, buy that instead. The tour earns its price when the official slots are gone or when you want someone to explain what you're standing on. The Underground English option adds the hypogeum; it costs more, so check the option list.
Climb to the terrace above Colosseo metro, cross the footbridge and walk up the road on your left to office No. 13 with purple flags. Staff in purple T-shirts check vouchers and IDs.
Your guide hands out headsets and leads the group to the entrance. Security is airport-style and nobody skips it.
The guide explains the building on the way in, then takes you onto the wooden platform at the east end of the arena, above the hypogeum.
Down the Via Sacra past the temples and the Senate house, with the guide filling in what the stones don't show.
Up to the imperial palaces and the view over the Circus Maximus. The order of the three sites can change with your slot.
★★★★★Small group tour with Alexandria was amazing. She is energetic, kind, and full of knowledge. She was fantastic with my 10-year old daughter. Thank you!
★★★★★Sarah with an H is a fantastic guide for your day at Palentine Hill and the Colesseum. Starting at the Hill and ending in the Colesseum gives you as much time as you would like to spend in the Colesseum after the tour ends.
★★★★★This tour is rich with experience in walking the colosseum, hearing about the history, and extraordinary picture opportunities. We recommend the tour including the gladiator floor experience.
★★★★★Lots of walking! In the heat it's rough but an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it. to see the forum first and get an understanding of the center of Ancient Rome, then making your way to end at the coliseum was a grand finale.
